I know that the mention of rules will usually stifle discussion and slow down the momentum on an already successful thread, but this seems like a good time to revisit some of the Rules of Spoils of Avalon.

Reyalri brought up some points in her criticism of the existing storyline that need to be addressed. The rules of Spoils of Avalon are simple. We base the rules of the story on AncientWorld's Code of Conduct as well as Cornellia Cornelius' Roleplay Etiquette.

Of course, aside from the rules there are other factors of working with an already existing story such as Arthurian and Celtic myths and Legends. Since these tales have already been told, I feel it would be redundant to stick entirely to the story. It is a good background to fall back on when creating new characters, though.

Like Demelza said, a Roleplay gets very boring when taken straight from Arthurian legend. What we try to do here is to take Arthurian Romance and use it as a scaffold to create new myths and legends. Many of the characters are taken directly from Welsh legends with the intent of scewing them to take on the personality of their writer. Many of the new people who jump into the story will usually discuss their character with either myself or with Victoria and we work with them to help develop their character without writing their character bio for them.

It has worked well thus far. As far as the theme being lost, I disagree. The theme has been always and forever the quest of the treasures of Britain, the first being that of the Grail. As far as characters wandering around, that is not the case either. If one were to look into the thread, they would see that there are actually storylines with specific settings stated. Sometimes it takes a while for two people to connect, but that is just the nature of Roleplay, or tandem story telling, whichever one prefers.

It is my role and responsibility as a group leader to foster character development and direction. This I hope I have successfully achieved through the use of communication via either grams or in chatrooms. This is all I can hope for, and as far as how successful it is, I can only wait and see. Nothing more.
