....A Ziggurat is more of a religious place, a temple. The king lives in a palace, wich isn't a religious place. In fact, according to an article in Archeology Magazine, the first king (way back in early Sumeria) was appointed to try to take power away from some overly powerful priests. The first several kings then tried to make it recorded/remembered from then on as though they'd been around from the beginning. They eventually came to a sort of 'sharing' of the power. As I remember it, it was an interesting article.....in fact, because I still remember it, it must have been. But this isn't the place for factual discussions. This is a role-play topic, for people to play at "intrigue and deception, lust and betrayal" in the palace. :-)
