    It is my understanding that the Pauline Dispensation following the Council of Jerusalem circa 50 AD eliminated the tradition/requirement that gentile converts to Christianity had to be circumcised. The Greek converts wanted no parts of this Jewish practice.

    I'm not aware of any particular disgust by the Romans for circumcision as long as nobody expected THEM to be circumcised.
