I would agree that Harald is probably looking at the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle "A" version. I have become accustomed to the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle over the last year or two, and it can be a complex document at times. The fact that there are more than one manuscript further complicates the matter.

Now I am looking for an opinion from the Witena Gemot. Is there a single edition of the Chronicle that is reputedly the best translation? For my recent surveys I have been using Dorothy Whitelock's version, published in 1961. It seems to be solid, although I wonder if more recent efforts may offer more. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
