This concept of names (and the directional bit as well) comes originally from Sankhkare, and he has these words to add to it..
"I also had a weird idea for the names of the different regions, districts (whatever we call them) that would incorporate the colors mentioned in that quote I found originally, as well as the feng shui animals associated with their respective compass points. Might be a little “snazzier” (as jojo put it) than North, South, etc. Not being a compass point, the center doesn’t have a feng shui animal, but the lion is associated with China, so I thought it would work nicely. I also liked the way the tiger ended up associated with India and the dragon with Japan – seemed fitting somehow. Let me know what you think."
This idea was brought up and the committee is in agreement. So the following is our recommendation:
| Yellow Lion Region |
Direction: Center
Element: Earth
Region(s) covered: China
|
| Black Turtle Province |
Green Dragon Shogunate |
Direction: North
Element: Water
Region(s) covered: Mongolia, Korea (Manchuria?)
|
Direction: East
Element: Wood
Region(s) covered: Japan and surrounding islands
|
| Red Phoenix District |
White Tiger Domain |
Direction: South
Element: Fire
Region(s) covered: Cambodia, Thailand, VietNam, Malaysia, Burma, Phillipines, Indonesia
|
Direction: West
Element: Metal
Region(s) covered: India, Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, & Bangladesh

Now, every country/culture is so far involved in this scheme, though there may be a few exceptions. Please keep in mind on any missing current countries that we only are really dealing with ancient or near ancient cultures and many of the smaller countries not listed under any directional neighborhood umbrella were probably part of a greater empire in ancient times and not exclusive unto themselves. Also, if there is a demand for more in time, it will likely be included at a later date.
Now, for areas that this covers.. Here is basic Asian map; And here is what this neighborhood concept covers:
As you can see from this map, all the directional areas are covered, and I really love the names Sankh has come up with. This concept embodies everything I would want them to, right down to aligning themselves with Feng Shui principles, very in keeping with Asian tradition. And because each covers seperate regional cultures, this will allow us to set them up in some nice corresponding graphic/layouts. Like the White Tiger Region can have Sanskrit lettering along the sides, whatever. You get the idea.
