    Only, I don't think 'dim view' is strong enough. JRR hated allegory, by his own statements in the Forward to FOTR. My personal view is that he introduced the so-called 'evil men' simply to explain the vast armies of Sauron. After all, there is a limit to how many Orcs and monsters could be produced or left over from the Eldar days...
