Akhenhotep entered the royal kitchen to find it a complete mess. His replacement left everything in disarray with no regard at all to the way Akhen had left it for him. Every fibre in his being now pulsated with raw anger. Nothing upset him more than to see HIS kitchen in utter chaos. Then it happened.
The pastry master Akhenhotep slowly walked across his kitchen surveying the damage when he spotted the horror of all horrors....a trashcan filled with uneaten pastries.
"By the Gods, who could have done this!" he shouted out loud. "Is there no justice left in these forsaken lands? What kind of world do we live in where pastries go uneaten!" he added and slammed his fist down on the countertop.
One of the palace guards just happened to walking by when he had heard the commotion coming from inside the kitchen. As he entered, he saw Akhenhotep, his elbows on the counter with his head in his hands. A low weep was all he heard next.
"Hey, you there!" said the guard. "Are you alright? You were putting on quite the little temper tantrum a few moments ago."
Slowly lifting his head, Akhen stared into the eyes of his enemy. Though the guard wasn't responsible for the atrocites he had just witnessed, he was still in the room with the now savage and ferocous beast named Akhenhotep!
"Arm yourself!" shouted Akhen as he reached for his own sword. The guard was caught completely surprised as Akhenhotep charged forward with his blade held high. "I will show you no mercy oh treacherous one!"
Finally realizing what was going on, the guard lept across the small table that seperated him from Akhen....however, with his cat-like prowess, Akhen easily navigated the table and pounced upon the unsuspecting prey.
On his back and helpless, the guard watched as Akhenhotep raised his sword high in the air preparing to deliver the final blow. Realizing he was near the end, the guard began to panic. Out of desperation, he reached out and he felt what seemed to be a doughnut. There it was, simply resting on the ground.
The sword started to fall and at the last second, the guard raised the half eaten doughnut as if to ward off the blade. Immediately, Akhenhotep realized that he would be destroying an innocent and tasteful doughnut. He quickly halted the blades motion and paused there as if contemplating his next move.
The beads of sweat were now running down the sides of the guard's forehead as his stress level reached critical. Was this madman going to continue his attack or had he come to his senses?
Slowly, Akhen stood up, still yielding the sharp blade. "Well, aren't you going to eat it?" he asked in a low tone. "You can't simply let it go to waste now."
Not know what to expect, the guard devoured the doughnut without dropping a crumb. Who knows how long it had been laying there on the floor. He could taste dirt and other inpurities as he tried to swallow the doughnut. Not wanting to upset the chef again, he made sure to keep a smile on his face the entire time.
Forcing down the last biteful, he slowly got up and stepped backwards toward the door not to expose his back to the crazy man with the big knife. Akhen simply watched him exit and heard a sigh of relief from the hallway as well as the sounds of running feet.
He turned once again to see the remnants of his kitchen. It was going to be a very long day!
