The contest work is completed (with the exception of next judging panel announced and the winners award graphics soon to come) and these are the highlights:

    • Contest Applicants (nominees) will be accepted via the ACTA that month and the award is available (equally) to all of AW.

    • Three Awards will be available, One Best Homesite and Two Honourable Mention (both hon.mentions will be equal)

    • Applicants for this award will be accepted for a two week period, from the 15th of the month previous to the award's designated month (on the release of that month's ACTA issue) to the first of the actual award month, at which time it will be handed over to the judging panel.

    • The judging panel will be made up of 3-5 Arachnids to be chosen (and informed) by your Arachne Weavers.

    • Contest Winners will be announced in that month's ACTA and in our entrance on the 15th of the designated month, with the judging panel submitting names/homesites on the 13th to whichever weaver is in charge of writing that month's ACTA article.

The actual Contest Criteria for award applicants goes as follows:

    • All levels of citizenship/patronage are allowed for applicants with the exception of Daylings, and the winner has to have made at least 10 posts to be eligible. (We do not want the award to be taken by someone who is not an active member of AW)

    • First place or actual Best Homesite Award can only be won once, though both of the Honorable mentions can be awarded to the same home/persona.

    • At least 3 of the home's rooms must be somewhat decorated.

    • Credit must be given somewhere in the home (entrance or room it is used in being preferrable) for all graphics/artwork used from external sources. (ie; linkware) To avoid judges misinterpretation, it is advised that any backgrounds or graphics you have made yourself be listed as such somewhere in the home (ie; background made by me)

    • Any previous winners who are Arachne Members will be required to be on the judging panel once in the following 6 months (two quarters, two contests) - not applicable to honorable mentions, as they will be eligible for the following contests first place award.

    • Winners must be willing to display the Award in their entrance (until AW Admin works out contest engine and we can put a small one under the citizenship plaque) and be a member of Arachne's Best Homesites Ring.

Further, it will be (highly) encouraged that all winners of both the first place award and the honorable mentions make some sort of acceptance speech in that month's ACTA, and make a post (via an Arachne member if they are not) in Arachne's Decorating Your Homesite board about tips and links etc for style.. to encourage others or just to help.

As for style/decor itself, homes that are filled to the max with graphics and odds and ends that don't coordinate well will not be likely to win.. it's not the amount folks so much as the layout, coordination (of colors or style) and similar theme throughout a home's rooms that will be the deciding factors. Please keep in mind that although download time is not listed in minimum requirements for this award, it is highly encouraged that applicants take this into consideration, as it's fairly certain the judges will if it exceeds their own dialup timelimits.
