Ok, not sure where to begin in replying, so will go through your points in orderly fashion:

    1. Before I can answer this one, I need to know what "who gives a d-?" means? This is exactly why there's a problem with "triumvirate," because we're not defining the terms.

    2. "Death of Germanicus - any proof beyond the popular rumours reported in Tacitus and Suetonius?"
No, and I admit it's quite possible he didn't die, but actually faked his own death to go live quietly by the Black Sea somewhere. You raise an intriguing possibility.

    3. I take your point. Murdering 18 people isn't nearly as bad as murdering 200. Perhaps we can therefore agree that Sulla is psychotic, but Tiberius is merely mildly psychotic?

    4. I can tell you that Lenin wasn't wearing anything when he lost his virginity (that's why he got the poor girl pregnant).

    5. It was Syme that said "sidetracks of history," not me, and it was you that added of Livia, "useless wagons are shunted while they're not being used." And too, I called her a brilliant ruler, you called her a bitch. The Roman opinion of women is mixed. To quote Seneca: "Chastity is simply proof of ugliness." Or the Husband's letter to his pregnant wife: "Joy if boy; hurl if girl!" Whereas other women are praised in glowing terms.

    6. I passed my first year subjects at University (Roman history and Classics) with an A+ average. How did you do?

    7. And please don't sign off your posts as "Strabo"! Everyone will think I'm playing with myself!

    Serentia
