not to slam any of the creators of other sites, but i was not impressed with the ones that popped up following the demise of AS. few of my friends were on them and not all were on any single one. thats the main reason for all this, anyway.
i looked around here for awhile but it too got tedious, so i stayed away alltogether. but, then on a lark the other day when i was really bored. i decided to check it out again. i have all my favorites categorized and i still had this one out there. i had a half dozen messages on my board, so that mostly convinced me.
I'd like to see this group retake its rightful place. it was one of the top 2 or 3 most active boards at AS. there were lessons, FAQ's, contests, et al there. i haven't seen that kind of dynamism yet, but the ideas on the other thread could get all that going again.
My only gripe is that its hard to navigate these boards. i liked the heirarchy of AS. you could be deep in a subtopic of one board and by going up and out through the links at top, get into another one, quite quickly. but, for instance here, i can only go as high as the java coffeehouse and then there's not a link that readily shows an index of all the Arachne boards.
just my $.025
