Agreed.
There were many public religious festivals that people were supposed to observe. One's "faith" (in the Christian sense) was unimportant if not irrelevant, however. One's behavior was what mattered.
"The Clouds" also had the very aumsing depiction of Hermes on earth under an umbrella to escape the Zeus' notice when he came to talk the main character out of intercepting all the sacrifices.
