The commercial growing of woad is to be revived, according to a report in the London Telegraph.

The dye was used by the ancient Britons for coloring many things, including their warriors' faces. The new crop will be offered as an organic subsitute for synthetic indigo, which has largely replaced the organic indigo that originally displaced woad.
