"And Romulus took a plough, put a young bull and a young cow in front of it and ploughed the phore that was to become the wall of Rome." This is not an exact quote of Livy's first book of A.U.C., but it describes grosso modo what was done by the legendary Romulus to place Rome on the map of the earth.... But what did REALLY happen? Why did this legendary Romulus plough a phore? Whas this a religious deed or was it a sort of planning? In the articles below you can read the meaning of all this and what is so "Roman" about it. In fact, this deed is not Roman at all, but it was exactly done in Rome, as Livy puts it. In fact, the religious and planning deed of ploughing the phore and founding the city is the on of the proofs that Rome is an Etruscan city and the Roman king, often, was the head of an Etruscan leading family. The Development of Etruscan Cities The Foundation of Etruscan Cities The articles have been written by Thanchvil Cilnei, who is Tanaquil Sergius.
