Here I am, dropped off the wagon with suitcases and all. Just registered and was allowed in as well!! Thanks a lot.
I always had a kind of fascination for Sparta and its inhabitants. Although the Spartans haven't been that harsh all the time of their past, Lykourgos' laws sure caused a lot of change around here. What strikes me the most is King Leonidas' performance, with his 300 guards, at the Thermopylae Gorge, striking terror into the hearts of the Persians and their allies.
And this, to me, is the most striking Laconian saying of all, done by a Spartan mother sending her son to war: Tan è epi tai ([bring] this [back to me] or [come back] on top of it) This saying shows how short the Laconian language is.I could learn from that! *s* Tanaquil
