I suppose for the moment I am probably more in touch with the "symbolism" of suffering related to healing, that's how Chiron came around. I was just reading the other day how Shamans often have to undertake a journey under the form of a disease or a madness or a physical journey. So, here I am, actually, thinking about how to make a sense of our inner hurt, our "Wound" (for the astrological side, Chiron in our theme will tell about our wound).
"Chiron says there is a Gift in every Wound... further, that Healing is the process of discovering the Gift." this quote from Martin Lass makes me think about a conference I once attended, about terminal diseases as a way of transformation. One of the cases was the story of someone with a Cancer. Most specially, this Cancer patient told us about his dreams. How, just before he knew he had a Cancer, he made dreams about driving in a freeway and being warned by the police. At first he didn’t take care, and he followed his way, but finally he had to stop. For him, his dream meant that most of the times we just go along, we live without paying too much attention to what it’s really important, and even when we receive some "red lights" we don’t take care, we are too distracted, until finally, we are forced to stop by "something". In his case, he had a Cancer and was forced to stop.
He had to "learn" again so many lessons, he had to learn to trust his family and his friends and how the power of the love of those who were surrounding him could help him in his way.
He related how his friends made a "permanency" when he was going to have a surgery, so he could know that someone was praying and thinking about him in a certain moment (they made a "schedule" *S*).
The night before he was going to have a chemistry care he dreamed he was at his work and his "chief" arrived with a most extraordinary idea: there was a treasure hidden in that factory and they should try to find it. So they began a lot of researches, it became so important to them, and they were so excited about finding that treasure. It was something like when we are kids and we dream about a Treasure Island. Or searching for the most precious thing on Earth, something that would answer all our expectations. And they continue with their searching until one day the chief arrived very excited and he told them he had found the treasure… and they made a reunion in a cabinet, so the chief could tell them where the treasure was, with maps on the walls and everything. You must realise, it was like a little child learning that Santa really exists... a very precious moment. And when the chief was going to say where the treasure was... he wakes up with the nurse saying: "time for your medicine"! He just crashed, he was so near to the final goal! He felt one tear rolling. It was too much disappointment. Suddenly, he had this "flash", he knew where the treasure was! The treasure was inside him! We all have a treasure inside us! That's what he realised... and he realised the dream could not give him the answer, it was too much important that he found out the answer by himself. He had to feel the crash and disappointment, so he could raise and find the answer inside him.
