I suppose everybody knows the story:
Chiron is the brother of Zeus, he is a centaur and a god. He is the mentor, the astrologer and the healer. He was wounded by one of the poisonous arrows from the Hydra. This wound is incurable, and even with all his wisdom, he cannot heal himself. It is not lethal though, and he suffers daily from this wound.
One can analyze Chiron’s Myth from the point of view of his “animal” versus his “divine” part, and many will talk about the integration of earthly bounds with a quest for awareness.
But for now I am more concerned by the “wounded healer” duality, or how to integrate suffering and growing. Needless to say, suffering sure seems to make part of everybody’s journey and to many of us becomes a medium for opening our heart. I remember Tibetan Master Chogyam Trungpa mentioning how "in the middle" of all beauty there is a tender point of sadness. Sometimes I think I don’t understand this, sometimes I know I understand.
