Tossed me out of court. However my point was that horsemanship is not a military thing but a personal thing. Today persons would be picked for that skill not just because they want to serve. I know that in the early days of transportation, beasts of burden were used by many cultures. Horses were not used widely by Romans, at least in military mannor, but for charriots, or taxi's until quite late. I also implied that while a person can enjoy a fine merlot, this does not make them a vintner, and while a person can enjoy a fine horse, this does not make them a jockey. I speculate on the wide use of calvery as a success story in Ancient times......but again I am a learner here not an educator...
