    Rules

Article One: History, reason and the goal of Epyllion.

Epyllion (epullion) is the moniker of a small epic story, a little epos! The epyllion was introduced in the early years of the fourth century. Father of the Hellenistic epyllion (IV 2.4.2) was the Helacata (Hlakata) of the Herinnas (Hrinnas), from the island of Tinos or Telo (maybe at the early years of the 4th century), who was lamented the untimely death of her friend Vaukidas (Baukidas). According the minor knowledge that we have concerning the first epyllion, the work had 300 lines and was composed when Herinna was 19 years old! Asclepiades (A.P. 7,11) stated that no one could contested the girl if see had not past away so soon. A small number of fragments and a papyrus with 50 lines we can conclude that the rhythm of the work was a link between the Doric and Aeolic language and technique, the language of Sapphus! (For more information M.L. West, “Erinna”, ZPE 25, 1977, 95-119).

The reason of the creation of the above mentioned Role-play group was the will of a role-play and interactive narrative writing area, sub community, which can give the experience of well-organized epical writings, in addition the opportunity to study, examine the ancient Greek history and by, with, that knowledge to interact imaginarily in an expansion of ancient Greek word.

The goal of Epyllion is to give the aforementioned experience to its members and to hold in future a great amount of spiritual work!

    Article Two: Members and Membership.

To preserve the objective and the ambition of a historical fiction role-play or interactive story, we ask for a minor research into ancient Greek history and culture prior to your join into the writing process of the three given interactive stories, The Court of Tyrants, The Pilgrims of Muses, The Everlasting King. Those are not substitute history stories.

Its member must select ONE Novel Scenario (NS) for each term of six months. For example a hypothetical member who first join in the group must send a message or personal email, if existed, to the Administration Panel (AP) –Leaders or Editors– of the group. If that is going to be neglected unfortunately the hypothetical member will stay at the position of Reader.

Hence we would like before you join into the writing panel to propel an Application Message (AM) to the AP of the group, as soon as possible, giving your choice of NS. Automatically your position will change and you will be placed at the represented NS rank.

The above rules were given for the aforesaid interactive stories or NS. Although, a member can have the opportunity not to choose a NS but to stay in the position of a free minded novelist by taking part of the Role-Play boards of the group! Role-Play stories (R&P.S) are the non-organized historical fiction stories. A Day In Athens is an R&P.S, which gives the opportunity for a walking experience through the Attic’s world.

Finally is important to state that everything that concerns the language use etc. is under the Code of Conduct of the Ancient Worlds.

    Article Three: Novel Scenarios (NS)

Novel Scenarios (NS) are the Epyllion’s interactive stories. Those NS are organized historical fiction stories, which need knowledge of historical facts; in addition, the members who want to be a part of those NS must first propel their choice to the AP. The member must state the name of the NS, which desire to be a part of it.

The member will gain positive reception if he/she has an acceptable novel stance!

It is essential to exist a proper relation between the Chapters-Thread’s Messages, which can establish a good linking relation between the writers’ narrative work and finally to compose the epyllion!

The AP will give remarks to the writers for their works!

Every Six months a member, non-registered to a NS or an already registered NS member, can send his/her AM to the AP for his/her un-registration, re-registration or registration.

    Short Introductions:

    The Court of Tyrants

After the –650 all the Greek city-states ruled be Tyrants! In –561 the Pisistratus (605-527) tyrant of Athens, promotes building and expansion to its city-state named Athens. Although, the undemocratic political systems and governmental situation, fine art, leisure, and the most important the “art of logos” and thought were developed and initiated the glory that after the devastating Persian Wars reached to the Cold Age of Greece.

    The Pilgrims of Muses

Set in the fourth-Century B.C. Greece, The Pilgrims of Muses is narrated by a tragic actor who takes with him on all his travels a gold mask of Apollo, a relic of the theater’s golden age, which is now past. At first his mascot, the mask gradually becomes his conscience, and he refers to it his gravest decisions, when he finds himself at the center of a political crisis in which the philosopher Plato is also involved. Much of the action is set in the colonial Greek city-states.

    The Everlasting King

That is going to be an exiting adventure for our imagination! In –336 the son of the Father of the gods was born. Philips the King of Macedonia was his earthly father, Olympia his divine mother. We are going to be present to Alexander’s life by witnessing all his course of life by a female point of view!

Article Four: The Role and Play Scenarios (R&P.S)

Role and Play Scenarios (R&P.S) are non-organized historical fiction stories, which are open to all members! Every member can place him/herself with his/her Ancient Worlds’ persona to an adventure in the land of wisdom.

Every Thread introduces an era in Attic’s land.

Live and experience well known events.

    Use the first person.

Posts in the R&P.S’s board must be remaining with the Ancient Worlds Code of Conduct.

    Article Five: Application Message (AM)

The Application Message (AM) is essential for the good run of the group. It is helpful for the AP for organizing as efficient as it can the NS and the R&P.S boards.

As was previously stated the AM must be sent with no delay to the AP and is recommended for all members regardless of there will be registered into a NS or just to be an R&P.S affiliate.

    Example of AM:

You can write a message to a AP member’s oikos, to send him/her a personal email-if it is known. If you want to propel a message or a email please write:

Title: AM Theme: Name of Persona______ Name of NS:_________  Term of been registered: first, second etc.

If you do not want to be registered in a NS DO NOT WRITE “Name of NS”

Article Six: The Administration Panel (AP)

The Leader(s) and the Editor(s) of the Epyllion group are composing the Administration Panel (AP). They must be available and have a public email for personal use with the enlisted members of the group. Changes concerning the Rules and the Boards of the Epyllion’s group must be discussed and not been individually tainted.
