Cairetw,
I first published the above recipe in
public in HistoryWalker web community, and thus I will like to repost it here
for your joy. As Greek I find irresistible the good food and especially the
ancient cooking. So I dried to have information about that food. Apicius a
Roman citizen wrote the very known The Roman Cookery Book and from that book, I
can say, and with a little of imagination, I created the best food I had ever
tasted.
Omelet with
dried fruits and nuts:
For four rations. (Apicius
4, 2, 16.)
· ½ Cup (60gr) with peeled almond.
· ½ Cup (60gr) crushed nuts or fruits.
· 2 spoons of pinecone (pine nuts).
· 1 spoon of honey.
· 2 spoons of white wine.
· 2 spoons of milk.
· 1 spoon of salt.
· Six eggs.
· Polished black piper.
· 1 spoon of olive oil.
Mix up all the dried fruits and nuts. Fry lightly all of them at the oven at
the 180o C for ten minutes. Cut them uniformly us thick crumb. Put them all to
a receptacle and add the honey, wine, milk, salt, and the eggs. Mix up well.
Scent it with plenty of black piper. Warmth the olive oil in a frying pan and
put inside it the mixture. Cooked it like an ordinary omelet and put it at the
grill for one or two minutes. Them cut it in quarters and serve it.
Finally I must say that the taste of it is quite strange and that may be
dislikable for someone who is not used to eat something else except of hotdogs.
For more information you can contact with me here.
Yours,
Cleisthenes
