A couple of feedback feedbacks...
Shadowing...I used a single light source, so not certain what you mean by inconsistent shadows, as the shadows are all generated by that source (the sun). The sun is behind the camera up and to the right; if you see the shadows cast by the stool and bench, they all "match". The only small inconsistency would be the phallus plaque; as that was done from an alpha plane photograph, I couldn't adjust the shadow on that to exactly match the sunlight, but I think the basic direction of the shadow isn't that bad.
Also not sure what you mean by perspective re; the front wall area behind the small tree; it is 3-dimensional, part of a wall with the doorway and window cut out with booleans. Changing the camera angle could give a different view of that column, but as that wasn't the "focus" of the image, I wasn't concerned about it.
I do agree about the texturing on the bench, you're absolutely right that it is too smooth and un-worn. I am learning UV-mapping and texturing, and as soon as I get my head around it will try to retexture the bench so it's more consistent with the rest of the stuff in the image. I tried re-texturing it in Vue, but something about the polygons or something in the model kept stretching the texture out really weird.
I have been playing with other Roman graffiti and frescoes, for the interior walls; I think there might be folks with an artistic bent hanging out in the taberna, so that may evolve as well. I agree, lamplight at night would be interesting, but that will come with the Taberna Tertia when it is done.
I do appreciate all critique and feedback, it is one of the things that has really helped me grow in this medium. Keep it coming!
As a small side note, I have a new perspective image at the Domus Urbanus; replaced it this morning with the REAL front door of my domus! Simple but fun to do. Check it out if you get a chance.
Salve!
