I used to take especially daunting books on airplanes with me when I used to travel several times a year. WAR AND PEACE not only wiled away the hours, but effectively kept over-friendly seatmates from attempting too much conversation!

Even so, I still never got past the opening chapters. Not enough air travel, I guess!
