When I was young I dreamed
of all the things I could be:
     “an astronaut, movie star,
               a doctor or a lawyer…”
Not restricted to any one thing.

Now all these dreams are gone
They fell through
          one by one,
               one by one
 
Just one dream remains intact
After all these years alone

     I want to know somebody
     I want someone to know me

It’s such an impersonal world
     the world in which we live
          and no one is in touch
     with the true self of another.
