Beacons Blaze Again Along Hadrian's Wall

I'm sorry I didn't catch and post word of this in advance, but last weekend, 500 Hadrian’s Wall enthusiasts and supporters used torches and beacons to illuminate the entire 84-mile length of the Wall from Segedunum Roman Fort in Wallsend on Tyneside to Bowness on Solway on the Cumbrian coast. Every 850 feet, gas-powered beacons lit up the night as an estimated 25,000 spectators looked on. The event was sponsored by Hadrian’s Wall Heritage as a way of attracting attention to, and support for, the Wall.
