Thank you all for taking the time to research and write so many interesting and informative articles on Vespasian. Until yesterday, I knew little about this emperor, his relatively humble origins, his military career, and how much he and his family contributed to Rome.
I was particularly amused by the piece on Vespasian's last words. I prefer to enertain the possibility that the old emperor said as he died standing, "Oh dear, I think I’m becoming a god" — especially if it was a quip at Claudius' expense.
And yes, it does leave one wondering why Suetonius included this play on words in his biography of Vespasian. I think he must've thought it quite funny. I know I did. *still laughing*
