I remember seeing someone post about it a while ago here in AW, and while I was browsing through Netflix a few months ago it recommended it to me (Netflix knows I like foreign films) and I put it in my queue. Finally it was next in line and shipped out, and since I was sick this weekend with strep throat I thought I'd give myself a movie marathon. Anyway. I loved it!

I had thought it was going to be more like a documentary than a straight film but I was mistaken. It was very high quality, I loved the casting and the scenery. The battle scenes were a bit predictable in parts but still very enjoyable. And I loved the story of the bride. She's such a survivor, and I thought it was odd and funny that every time he went away he would be welcomed back to another child, but still claimed it as his right away.

    It really surpassed my expectations.

On another note, I also happened to watch "Up the Yangtze" today. So depressing, but absorbing.
