Conchobar of Emain's rampart,
Pissant pawn to puissant prince,
Meek usurper in the making,
Evince Fergus' aching wince.

Sidelong gained, then blithely guarded,
Hollowed chaff to hallowed chief,
First in fam'lies, brides he's bedding.
In brief, bridegroom's wedding grief.
