    I've always wandered why, even in ancient sources and in his contemporaries, there was such a strong emphasis on the number of enemies he killed during the Gallic wars. A million.
    This is a hug number and I agree on that.
    But there have been lots of Roman generals before and after him who were known not to be kind to the enemies.
    Did anybody ever tried to calculate how many people did Pompey killed? Or Silla?
    Was Caesar really the only one? Or were numbers exaggerated because everything about JC is exasperated?
