... I came across something new called The Wolfram Demonstrations Project, which seems to be a large number of user-submitted animated-graphic explanations of nearly everything, with many new items every week.
You can view a "web demonstration" or download a "live demonstration" with active controls; the latter requires download of a special player (unless you own the full Mathematica program).
There are a variety of topics, including activities for children.
So, forget TV (the Olympics are over) and learn something new!
