    Was using a bit of Strine myself with "Sleece tiger do." If you say it out loud (as opposed to reading it) it's supposed to make more sense - translation - it's the least I can do. *G*

    Thanks for the explanation, Seme. So it's basically what I thought all along ... we were camping one night when another Aussie friend asked me what I thought "waltzing Matilda" meant ... sort of traveling around with your gear and camping out at night ... similar to what America's migrant workers did back during the Depression era ... cover with the moon (sleep out in the open) ... although most of them rode freight trains instead of walking - Hobos.

    American hobos were different from tramps or bums (other homeless travelers) - they had a defined subculture including a code of ethics: they worked when they could find work; and traveled from place to place looking for work. They also had their own lingo. Not as colorful as Strine, you can find a list of their slang here.
