Posca and Portia had both checked out the markets and shops that lined the forum. Coming home from the forum, Portia had told her Mistress what was available and what looked good and fresh enough for an honored guest. With that information in hand, Lady Clodia called for her cook and decided on her menu.

Her slaves were cleaning and re-cleaning her domus and the culina was hot with anticipation. All in all, Lady Clodia found herself looking forward to her cena with Gallus. He was a very pleasant man that was easy to talk to. She walked into her bright red triclinium with wall paintings and a floor of mosaic tile and deemed it ready to occupy an honored guest. The couches of red satin surrounded a low table for dining. Yes, thought Lady Clodia with satisfaction. All is ready for my guest!
