Tuticanus Gallus, commander of the Germans in the Praetorian Guard, who's real name was
Hans Guntram Landoberct, AKA "Big Hans" to friend and foe alike looked at the two
Centurions seated across from him. They had brought him a message from a man who he knew
was very powerful if not the most powerful man next to the Emperor in Rome. He had listened
intently to the verbal message and was inclined to accept it. First he wanted to work out
the details and think about the consequences. He knew for a fact that the offered amount,
half a talent, would be paid promptly. Marcus Horatius Pulvillus the centurion who had
stated the offer was a known henchman of C. Flavius Fabricius Licentius Piso a very rich man
indeed. So he had no worries about receiving the stated amount.
You can tell your employer that I accept his offer, but plans have to be made and money has
to change hands. Tell him that I will need half of the money up front if his errand is to be done correctly. I am sure he will agree with me.
After his visitors had left he started to formulate his plan. It would take a lot of planning and a number of his most loyal troops to succeed. He already had the men in mind who he would enlist in this enterprise. Now we will see who has the last laugh. The Senate and the Roman mob or the Praetorians!
