"Congratulations!" Gallus slapped his colleague Vitulus heartily on the back. Vitulus, still looking down at the charioteers, almost jumped out of his seat.
"Dear me, no need to hit me just because you didn't win this time!" Vitulus grinned at his fellow Tribune. "I hope the Lady Clodia enjoyed her day at the games, I must say they were quite a show! Or is that because of that money at stake? Either way, that's a good way to end the day.
"Now, the question is ... which of us will have our day in the courts? I hope you don't regret your injunction against bribery, Tiberius. You may need to do that if you wish to have a chance!" Vitulus winked at his friend, referring to his unbeaten record against his colleague. "If you will excuse me now, I have some business to attend to with my banker. See you in the courts!"
