"I never thought it inappropriate for an unmarried man to visit his ex-wife."
Pompeia Sulla grimaced internally. No, you just found it inappropriate to be associated with your ex-wife when you were actually married to her.
"I think we can do so without wagging to many tonques," she said instead, leading Caesar through her atrium to her sitting room."
Caesar noticed that the domus was tastefully decorated, much more gracious than he thought possible when they lived in the same domicile.
"You surprise me, Pompeia, the atrium is delightful and..."
"...and you never thought such a silly goose like me could ever manage," Pompeia finished. she stopped an looked caesar in the eye." You never gave me chance, only let your mother have a say."
Caesar cleared his throat." Like mother like son, hmmm?"
"Hmmm," Pompeia said, entered her sitting room, and sat on her couch. She pushed a chair with her toe, indicating to Caesar to sit.
"So what brings you to my doorstep."
"I just thought you looked rather inviting the other night. I was disappointed not to take you up on it at the moment, but some people are best dealt with immediately, lest they fester and infect everything around them. I didn't want you to get ill."
Upon completion of this statement, Caesar settled back in his chair with his legs crossed, and settled his piercing eyes on his ex wife, waiting.
