    ==========================================
    House of the Quaestor Junius Brutus
    ==========================================

    "Any word yet from the Governor-Archon?" Brutus asked Priscus during his daily report from Agathocles's villa. The once fierce governor had limited himself for the last few weeks to some public appearances with the protection of Brutus's guards but he was still under probation in his own city. Soon, Brutus hoped, he would be rid of those that planned to speak to the Senate and blame him solely about the assault of Rhodes, an accusation that did hold some truth -- since Brutus did removed the fleet from the island -- but on the other hand, it wasn't his fault either; the Rhodian governor should know better than leave his city undefended!

    "No -- not a word. I am keeping track on him at all times as you have commanded me but the Governor has still to reach a decision." Priscus replied.

    "Do you think that he will refuse my generous offer?" the Quaestor asked again. If anyone knew what went on on Agathocles's head, Priscus would be the man; he had done a great job getting intimate with Agathocles's confidant, Andronicus, who turned out to be as a drunkard as Priscus -- with the slight difference that Priscus did not speak when drunk while Andronicus has always been very talkative after some good Phalernian cup.

    "I believe so, sir." Priscus answered back. "Andronicus has revealed to me that twice he tried to pass a message with a slave only to be stopped by one of the guards. I would get rid of him if I were you, sir; he's too dangerous for you to live." he added. While being the honourable man, Priscus knew when the use of deceit and cunning was imperative some times and that was such an occasion.

    "Hmmm... I might kill two birds with one stone after all." Brutus finally spoke after a couple of minutes. "When is the next planned exit of Agathocles?" Lucius asked Priscus. "In two days" the old spy replied. "Very good. Have some Rhodian scum -- whatever dishonest bum you can rally from the streets and have them motivated to assault on the Governor-Archon but be careful not to reveal your identity. At the time of the attack, you will be on the Governor's side; if the assassins cannot kill him, do it yourself as discretely as possible. Also, have the guards drunk the previous day so that they are not combat ready when the time of the hit comes. Priscus, make it look like a pay back; as if the Rhodian people were rioting in anger against Agathocles, for the pirate's attack. You understand?" Brutus asked his spy with a serious voice. "I do, sir." Priscus replied, accepting his mortality assignment. "Good. Take 3,000 denarii from my vault in the case you need some ready coin." Brutus finished. "Oh, and after the deed has been done, kill the murderers -- don't give them a chance to speak; to anybody". "Yes, sir." Priscus nodded.
    "Good. I will be leaving for Asia immediately. Once your work is done, come and join me."

    Lucius Iunius Brutus

    1. I use 3,000 denarii to pay some Rhodian assassins to make a move on Agathocles on the next planned tour of Rhodes. The assassins will be informed of the path the Governor-Archon will take through the city and where to strike.

    2. In the case the assassins fail their task, Priscus will take the target out with the utmost secrecy. He must make sure that there will be no witnesses during the act.

    3. After the hit has been done, Priscus will lead a party of marines who will find the paid assassins and take them out before they reveal anything to anyone. They must make sure that no evidence of Roman interaction is found with the bodies of the dead assassins.

    4. After the assassination, Priscus will meet with all nobles and ensure them that Rome will support anyone for the office of Governor-Archon, as long as the man promises to repair the damaged ships on their own expenses.
