my good works over the last few years in the religious sphere will be well known to you all. I have constructed two new Temples – one to Salus, the Goddess of Health, whose Priest I am) and the other (an especially splendid one) to Neptune.

I trust you also remember with affection my two years as Aedile, when I gave the most lavish Races and Games in history. Indeed I gave a double set of Games every month if you recall! I have served my administrative time as a Quaestor in Hispania Citerior amongst the Iberian barbarians, and have been your Tribune for the last three years, years in which the office has been discharged with vigour and responsibility.

Remember the feasts you all enjoyed on the remains of the numerous sacrifices I made to the Gods, and be assured that many more of them are to come. No-one in Rome is as devoted to religious affairs as myself; give me the chance to proof what I can do as your Pontifex Maximus. Vote for Torquatus this month!
