BBC News has the article Swedes find Viking-era Arab coins on the find of a rare hoard of Viking-age silver Arab coins near Stockholm's Arlanda airport. The coins were left in Sweden ca. 850 AD. Some were minted in Damascus and Baghdad, and some came from Persia and North Africa. The about 470 coins date from the 7th to the 9th century, when the vikings travelled widely in the Baltic region and Russia from the 8th to the 12th century.
