The oldest form of the Breton Lai has a very strict meter and rhyme scheme. It is in the form of "three threes"... VERY Celtic! The form looks like:

X B
This sequence of nine lines is repeated multiple times, each with a different A and B rhyming pair.
Here is my rough attempt at this form. Yes, I know, it doesn't tell a story of true love twixt man and maid. Maybe it is my love for the old stones that is showing here?
Stones
Rows of rigid stone
Bleached and broken bone
Dead white.
Wild winds wail and moan
Through the ancient stone
At night.
Standing here alone
Rigid as the stone
From fright.
