I sent you a message that I would be coming to visit you, but my sons were in such a hurry to get me off that I may have gotten here before the messenger. They were afraid that I might change my mind, but they were wrong. It is time that I get out and visit old friends. One cannot wear mourners' rags for ever. At least that is what my family keeps telling me. Still, losing both my mother and husband within such a short time almost did me in, for awhile."
I hold out my arms to greet her, for it has been some time since we had seen each other. I smile as I tell her that she has not changed in the least and I mean it. She is still as beautiful as ever. I feel as if I have aged a great deal, even though my daughter Aspasia tells me that it is not so.
"You have not seen my daughter, Aspasia, since she was a wee one, have you? And these other two, though they travel as our attendants and companions, they are very much a part of our family. I am sure that you met Ismene before, for she was a part of my small hetairae school. She is Thalia's cousin. And the other, the red haired beauty is Callista. Oh, but I am chattering on and on. How have you been? How has life been treating you?"
