In fact, researching the origin of the gens Furia is what led me to the question about Medullia.
Medullia was one of several towns to the NE of Rome that were conquered or annexed by Romulus. Roman colonies were established in the towns and part of the population moved to Rome, often (it is thought) to the Caelian Hill. These towns were Alban or other Latin colonies, Greek, or Sabine, thus adding to the cultural mix of early Rome.
