After speaking to his beloved clerk Gallus, the Urban Praetor had immediately drafted letters to each of the Censors.
Honored Censor,
It grieves me to inform you that evidence has been presented to me that the Tribune Publius Manlius Torquatus has attempted to bribe the entire College of Plebeian Tribunes. Apparently this was a failed attempt to uphold his veto on the recent lex Iulia Sumptuaria Religiosa. As much as it saddens me, I fear that we can not let such an audacious violation of the sanctity of the College of the Plebian Tribunes go unpunished.
Therefore, as Urban Praetor I must formally request that the actions of Publius Manlius Torquatus be considered criminal, and accordingly order that appropriate charges be leveled against Publius Manlius Torquatus immediately. I shall await your reply.
Sincerely,
Gaius Aemilius Prisca, Urban Praetor
