Sledding thru day and most of the evening, we finally decided to call it a day, and camped along the river. As I didn't really know any Inuit, I had to manage with sign language with the boy, the name of which I found out: Agloolik Akhlut Wentshukumishiteu - I'm just guessing *W* the spelling of the name, but "hukumis" sounded like Sami, the language of faraway Lapplanders - mostly we did make shadow puppets using the light of the fire and a spread blanket, and gradually fell asleep... from which I was awakened by a sound of wailing, or howling... opening my eyes was hard, but I managed it a bit, and saw what appeared to be a a puppie of a dog or wolf sitting at the edge of the fire's light. I turned to shake Agloolik, but he was not there, and as I turned back to watch the puppie, I saw Agloolik walking towards me. I signaled wolf, and even made some howling sounds, but he didn't seem to understand, shaking his head. Carefully I checked the surrounding area, but could not find any sign of wolf, not even paw prints. Shaking my head too, I signed Agloolik that we should continue sleeping, and so we did. In the morning it all felt like a dream, and after a hurried breakfast we continued towards the shores of Western Great Lakes...
