It has often been the case that those working on various world festivals have not had the time to join in the fun of other celebrations as committments to their own worlds, naturally take precedence.
With this in mind, April 28-30th sees Egypt celebrating Bast Fest. We have juggled the dates around and are now firmly fixed on late April. Moving the date has not only allowed us more time to be creative, but also allows members from other worlds to participate more freely in the planning, creation of events and engage in the festival itself.
In regards to Taysats suggestion that Egypt retain Bast Fest as their annual festival, I'm not sure it would work, as much as I personally embrace any celebration of cats. Imagine, year after year, trying to come up with bigger and better activities all based on cats.
What I suggest is we keep the dates of Bast Fest, April 28-30th, but if we can't have Opet, we can take any one of the numerous ancient Egyptian festivals and make it our own. This year it's Bast, next year it could be Set, or Neith, or the feast of Montu, or a celebration of the Netjert of Weaving and Fate; perhaps a feast of Anpu with the Children of Nut and Geb. Three or four festival ideas could be incorporated into one. There's loads of possibilities including moveable river festivals with different hoods holding different aspects of one festival. What say you all?
(Oh - and thanks to Merneith Ahhotep & Miw Meritamen for their best wishes. *hugs*)
