But that is what it boils down to. A few weeks ago AW crashed because there too much KBs on the HD and that made the site go TU. Perhaps it wasn't what you were talking about, but perhaps this is where alot of the animosity is coming from.
It seems like we have this discussion every year and it may have come to a boiling point this year because of the problems we've been having with the server, the limits Jot puts on everything, and the frustration we feel everytime we can't get online to enjoy our favorite pasttime.
Real numbers of festival posts vs. real posts don't really mean anything. I can post 200 posts in a weekend, but what will come out of those posts? Nothing but a bunch of ridiculous stoopid posts full of Irish stereotypes that set the Irish people back from thousands of years of cultural evolution. That is all. I really don't post anything of substantial scholarly merits. That is what I want to do.
As far as I know, I am a real person here at AW. What I want to do is read posts from my peers and then post back if I feel inspired by what they wrote...whoa...I think I am having fun here. I am doing what I like to do here. Although this is a fruitless conversation (it goes on every year) I still am gripped to it for the simple fact that it is fun for me. What can I say?
So, Maria, it doesn't matter if you were talking about bandwidth or not, that always comes up in these conversations, and why not get it out there now rather than later?
BTW, if anyone wants to see the positive aspects of festivals, read Seshat's Journal What good are festivals anyway?
