    Rowan certainly seems to be highly regarded in magical circles. Brigit's three firey arrows are said to be made from Rowan. Luis is related to Loise meaning radiance, brilliance, flame, glory, glow. It was also used for spindles and spinning wheels and (I think I rememeber hearing door jambs and newel posts for stair cases). It was good to have by your front door for protection from magic.
