1... If some of you upgrade to Vista (which most likely will happen whether you want it to or not), turn off the Microsoft security center if you install a seperate anti-virus program (ie norton, mcafee, etc) as they will conflict and slow down your system. Been there done that. Have also heard from others that the MS security center is enough and don't need to install another anti-virus program. It's your call. My personal opinion is that I don't believe that Microsoft has got a handle on anti-virus software yet. Their main aim was and is to build the main system. Norton and McAfee have been programming anti-virus software for over 15 years now. You would think that they would know what they are doing by now. Although that could be said of Microsoft too! LOL

2... Virus programs are a personal choice. I guess the only way to try these programs is by the trial versions (if they have one). If you like it, buy it if the price is right. Shop around for the best price. Some shops will match any other advertised by their competitors. If they don't advertise the fact, ask. You may be surprised. Make sure you have a copy of the ad so they can verify it.

I also have been a fan of Norton for years but the last release (norton 360) is really starting to piss me off (excuse the 'french'). It sometimes comes up with "Fraudulent Page" for AW homesites or other pages within AW and some other sites which I know aren't phishing sites. Yes, I did add AW and the others to the 'trused sites' section. *G* I did send an email to Norton via their website complaining about this. Dunno if anything was done as I haven't heard a word and they are usually good about replying to things like that. :(

3...McAfee vs Norton: It's like saying Toshiba vs Hewlett Packard. Both make the same thing but yet are different and will act differently. I have seen some viruses which were picked up by Norton and not by McAfee and visa versa.

Not entirely helpful I know. *G* Read some computer mags too. They often give product reviews on these things.

    :D
