    What rules did the knights have to follow when one commited a crime?
    Would it just be overlooked becouse of his possition?
    The punishments they received, how severe could they be? ...

    I don't know about punishments within the knightly orders themselves, but some general punishments I have read about include:

    Trial by Ordeal - for example: basically holding a person under water until they either (a) confessed to something (whether they actually did the crime or not) or (b) pretty much drowned anyway.

    Trial by Combat - which is pretty self explanatory
