A low, persistent knocking brings me back to consciousness. "Thank you!" I call out and the knocking stops. Arie immediately sits bolt upright in the bed.
"What? Who?" he asks as he rubs his eyes.
"It's okay, Darling," I reassure him as I sit up too. "I fear our short respite is over. Time to rejoin the world of the conscious."
His arm goes across my chest and he playfully pushes me back down into the pillows.
"And what if I am not ready just yet?" He smiles.
I ponder for a moment with his chest firmly against mine.
"I am at your command, my lord. What is your wish?"
"My wish is to stay right here with you for the rest of the day. However, there are those waiting on our presence, my son included."
"You should not waste any more time then."
"My Love, I do not consider being with you as wasting time." He kisses me and then asks, "What are your plans for the day? As much as I would like to think your schedule has been cleared for you to rest from your recent illness, I am sure you have a full day nonetheless."
"On the contrary, I have no plans other than seeing Darius and Ranae off for their return to Phaistos."
"Well, then, I would very pleased if you would join me and Nikolaos, if you are feeling up to it of course, and when the twins are ready to take leave, we shall all see them off together."
"I am honored by your request. I will gladly join you."
