forget San Juan! (well, at least after the first visit to PR *grin*). to experience Puerto Rico down deep visit La Parguera. truly a fun place to hang out.

rent a boat and go explore the sea, swim and snorkel, play pool till 2 am, dance in the town square to the exquisitely danceable PR tunes (yes, you must move your hips!), eat fabulous seafood and other PR foods that make your tongue go into bliss, take a night boat trip to see the phosphorescent bay (my daughter kept wanting to spit into the water to see it glow *lol*). take your rental car to explore the nearby beaches (watch out for stinging thingees in the water) or cruise up to San Germán, check out the lighthouse at Cabo Rojo (gods, do NOT take your rental mini-van down to the beach below no matter how lovely it looks--my son started crying and thought we were going to die, my daughter jounced and bounced and had this grim look on her face--probably thinking mom was insane!, not to mention my knuckles were white on the steering wheel as I tried to avoid rocks of all size!)

my family took a trip there (10 of us went down there one year). we rented a house, bought some cooking stuff and food. spent a week there having one of the best times of my life. a fairly inexpensive vacation for so many. but really one of the best we've ever had.
