My dear friend Spurius Furius told me that Baiae is where the rich and beautiful people flock to indulge in licencious vice. Since I am both rich and beautiful, when this modest little villa right next door to his - in the most exclusive quarter, of course! - came onto the property market, I decided to buy it so I could sample some of these (in)famous delights for myself.

Please make yourself at home here. The view from the terrace is quite delightful, and you'll find comfortable cushioned couches to relax on. Would you care for olives with your Falernian? And do try some of these local purple oysters too - they are said to be something of an aphrodisiac, but I will leave you to decide the truth of that yourself. As the poet Propertius warned his girl friend, "The waters of Baiae lead to immoral love."
