Egyptian Smile
Welcome To My Home! I will focus on masonry and history here, but, it's a work in progress, we'll see where I go.
I grew up thinking the pyramids of Giza were the pyramids when I learned about the step pyramids I was very excited...I always suspected they didn't get perfection from jump, I had a feeling that trial and error and build it bigger and better always came into play...Saqqara confirmed all that I expected. I showed my husband (who is not web savvy)pictures of some of the pyramids, he was impressed by how well and precise the stone was cut (for the times), the joints, how high they could make them etc, then we looked at the Giza Pyramids, he seemed to marvel about how they could get scaffolding that high back in the day, and that there was no safety equiptment to prevent the masons and workers from peril. (Which is funny cuz he hates safety equiptment, it limits him!!) I explained that the men who did his job were likely slaves and had no choice but to do the job. They got paid poor wages and he gets paid well. It gave him pause for thought. He's good at what he does, very good, it's something he takes a great deal of pride in, but, I think he has found a new pride in what he does because of the men who came before him. |
